Our aim is to build a low-cost device for capturing retinal fundus images and equip it with Artificial Intelligence based software to detect Diabetic Retinopathy from the images. The primary goal is to make AI based diagnostics accesible to a larger population, especially in developing countries. In addition, this device could be a useful tool to collect data for research purposes and improve the AI software. This is an extension of the Open Indirect Ophthalmoscope project (OIO).

Who

About us

We are a team of researchers working on the development of explainable AI solutions for the diagnosis of eye diseases (mainly Diabetic Retinopathy).

What

Open ophthalmoscope

Our first task is to replicate the OIO and improve its documentation so that ophthalmologists and other researchers with limited resources can easily mount it to collect and diagnose fundus images.
